Like toys scattered across a bedroom floor
Dull colours and odd shapes randomly catching her eye
Attentive to her own enjoyment, she scours each foot step
Holding high her latest prize of slate pebble or incomplete shell
Simple pleasures for this princess of the beach
Before retaking her protectors hand.
